What is COACHING?

International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching -
As partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today’s uncertain and complex environment. Coaches honour the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

Life coaching is an intended relationship where coaches support a client in developing vision and goals for their life and make use of multiple strategies to enable &empower the client to use their personal supremacy (power) to discover their own solutions.

Nature of a coaching relationship are empowerment (enablement) and accountability (responsibility).  It is assumed & expected that the client wishes to see a genuine transformation in their lives.  The coach, as a transformation expert, enables the client to take charge of their lives, fulfil their potential, and reach their goals.

In general and for any outsiders, it’s very easy to confuse or puzzle coaching with some other kind of therapeutic or healing profession.

However, as you can distinguish now, coaching is quite diverse (different) from giving advice, consulting, counselling, and mentoring.

How does life coach work?

As we talked before, coach & client relationship is intentional and they mutually agree to remain in a time-bound partnership. It’s a supportive relationship where coaches help their client get what they desire based on their own solutions. Coaches are catalysts, change agents and they hold their clients accountable.

Although different coaches may have diverse ways and methods of coaching depending upon the uniqueness of the issues they are supposed to resolve. However, a standard process should involve following footsteps   -

Firstly, it is imperative that the client will work with the coach to determine a definite goal and objective that they want to achieve.

Secondly, to recognize the obstacles and restrictive thoughts that has been holding the client back from performing to the desired level.

Finally, the client and coach both are supposed to set challenging though achievable goals.

Last but not the least is -
  • To follow-up the progress of action items from the previous meeting.
  • To acknowledge and affirm the client on his accomplishment
  • To Value the client by remembering key facts
  • To ask for new action items to continue moving forward
  • To reiterate, the orientation of every coaching meeting, every conversation and every action item is future-forward.

There is an objective behind the meeting, and goals that are set are meant to be accomplished.
So are you really  willing to make the most of your human potential, and lead your life to the following level, then it’s time to search for a life coach.

Conclusion
As a final point, in coaching - there is a great flexibility because coaches are generalists.  They are experts at being change agents.  When a relationship develops with a client that requires them to set their own goals, objectives, and action items, they discover that they can work with clients of any issue or profession.

Additionally, each client’s solution is going to be as distinctive as they are; so the approach of one-size-fits-all with what has worked for others are not applicable in case of coaching.

Most importantly, Coaching is not leading by authority rather it is influencing someone from his/her core. Coaches have an influential role in the relationship with the client, but, as the client is empowered, they maintain the role of responsibility in problem-solving, action steps, goals & objectives, and the final outcome.

TOXIC WORKPLACE CULTURES HURT WORKERS AND  COMPANY PROFITS Toxic workplaces —where employees dread going to work, don't feel they can be honest with their manager, and may witness or experience sexual harassment or age discrimination—are a primary reason workers quit their jobs. They often hold the managers in their workplaces responsible for creating the toxicity.  In July, SHRM commissioned research on toxic workplace cultures and what happens to the employees who work in them. " The High Cost of a Toxic Workplace Culture: How Culture Impacts the Workforce—and the Bottom Line ," released today, found that many workers consider culture and managers to be closely connected.  TOXIC WORKPLACE CULTURES HURT WORKERS AND  COMPANY PROFITS
